Hello Visitor

My name is Sven Patrick Meier and I am a young software engineer exploring the world of full stack software development and DevOps.

About me

Originally coming from Giengen a. d. Brenz, I started studying Media Informatics in winter term 2015/16. In summer term 2018 I decided to change the subject to Software Engineering B.Sc. because I recognized programming is fun and better matches with my interests.

April 2017 I also started giving repetition courses to other students at University and did other "HiWi" jobs as well.

May 2019: Start as Web-Developer (working student) at Team Parallax.

July 2020: Start as Junior-Developer at Team Parallax

Projects: so far

Softwaregrundprojekt: The "Sopra" is a group software project at University where teams of 4–6 people have to do software engineering and plan the software construction and development process. (Java)

Software Engineering Project: During the Software Engineering Project I had to develop a new Backend for an existing project, where the task was to manipulate received data in order to do a (almost real-time) simulation. My Part during the development was the implementation of the serverside communication. First we developed a concept for a new communication schema which we implemented after. (Python 3/MongoDB)

Alexa Skills:

In my leisure time I started creating small applications for Amazons Alexa Speech Assistant after I had a HiWi-job where I learned something about Alexa, the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) and Skill-implementations (Python 3/Flask-ASK).

The V programming language: In December 2019 I started contributing to the V programming language community (Github). I wrote parts of the documentation for the programming language and translated this documentation to german.

Projekt Kuro: During the Covid-19 pandemic a few friends of mine and I decided to participate in the "WirVsVirus"-Hackathon (Hackathon of the german Bundesregierung). With "Kuro" we designed a solution to monitor product statuses in supermarkets in your local area. Therefore, we created an open API (live) and constructed an Android- (Alpha-Stage) and Web-App (pre-alpha). My tasks for this project were:

  • Team-Organization/-Communication
  • Backend Design
  • (Web) Frontend Design
  • Tooling

Projekt Kuro is open-sourced on Github.

Misc. projects In my free time I mostly explore tools that I use(d) at work to improve my skill level. Some tools/technologies I have private projects with:

  • Docker/docker-compose
  • Gitlab CI
  • (REST) API design, mostly using tsoa
  • Scripting and automation
  • TypeScript

Hobbies

  • Gaming
  • Music (Electronic/Techno, Metal-/Hardcore, Rap)
  • Programming
  • Sports
  • Streaming
  • Teaching stuff to people (especially when I suffered learning it emoji-see_no_evil)

It works on my machine!
